Department of Paediatrics

Prof. Ghazanfar Ali Sheikh has been Professor and Head of Department at King Edward Medical University. He was also project director for Paediatrics Specialty Block, worth Rs. 216 millions. He is examiner for FCPS (Paediatrics) for the last 10 years. He has published at least 14 original articles in reputed journals. He has also published many booklets on the topics of specific Paediatric Problems. He is Co-editor of Journal of King Edward Medical University.He also initiated various objects in collaboration with WHO and UNICEF, Women Health Project, HIV Provincial Programme and Higher Education Commission. He has also conducted courses for D.C.H.M.D. as programme director.After joining CMC, he has initiated many patient and education related projects in this institution some of which are as follows.

a) Pediatrics OPD, around the clock, all year around.

b) ORT corner, Functional

c) Screening of high risk neonates and newborn, started new born examination and care

d) Breast feeding promotion programmes

Department is very busy and the credit goes to Prof. Ghazanfar Ali Sheikh and his hardworking team, specially Dr. Asif Aleem (FCPS) who joined six month ago. The department also has four fully trained paediatrics medical officers.

This department is fully capable to fulfil the requirements of the medical students in third year, Forth Year & Final Year.
